Great idea Kelly! I am taking that a step beyond this year. I am setting up a TED talk or something similar once a week for my staff to get together and watch during lunches. I decided to call it "Eat.Think.Grow." Give the staff a chance to get inspired, take a break from the stress of their classrooms, and another excuse for our staff to get together. Our first one is this week! I would love to share ideas on some good talks, although I have yet to watch a bad one!

My favorite thing I like to say to my little boy is "Good job!" I think it's important to give praise when praise is due, and to be specific about it. It's much better than telling your kids, "you're the best" because it's not as sincere. Plus it encourages children to DO well, work on their actions, without the pressure of being the perfect child.

I must still be child-like, because I STILL want to hear all 6 of those things! I'm sure that many of us can look back and recall the people in our lives that either lifted us up or knocked us down by their words. Now, how do we want to be remembered? - as the encourager or the discourager?? We all find ourselves saying the wrong things at times, but do we always fix it? If you have said something that brings someone else down, pick them back up! The Golden Rule is so simple, but so hard to follow. We ALL want to be praised and lifted up! Why? - because we were made in His image, and that is what He wants - our praises!! Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Croy.
